Today the "Special Jurisdiction for Peace" ( @JEP_Colombia) published its findings on #Caso03 ("falsos positivos").

Findings: between 2002-2008, the Colombian state killed 6,402 civilians & marked them as guerrilla fighters under the pretext of #WarOnTerror.

Former Pres. @AlvaroUribeVel and his Defense Minister @JuanManSantos (later @NobelPrize winner), not to mention @GeorgeWBush are among those responsible. Their policy of "Seguridad Democrática" was financed by an expansion of #PlanColombia (signed by @BillClinton in 2000).

The extrajudicial killing of over 6k civilians under the pretense of (mostly US-funded) #WarOnTerror & #WarOnDrugs were estimated at 2k prior to the findings of @JEP_Colombia, which President @IvanDuque (backed by @AlvaroUribeVel) tried to cripple/paralyze through defunding.

#PlanColombia (2000-2015) was used by the US to "illuminate" the strategy against #ISIS, continue the #WarOnDrugs against black communities, and is now being referenced by @JohnKerry as an example for climate action, as @KateAronoff pointed out.

The unimaginable scale of 6,402 civilians killed by state forces is the tip of the iceberg. It has also been met with courageous resistance. For example, the mothers of those killed (Madres de Soacha) have demanded justice day-in-day-out. Follow their work: @MAFAPOCOLOMBIA
