Good afternoon good people. So many people have been reaching out wondering how they can help folx here in Austin from outside of the state. Here's what I have (begin thread):
. @AMReese07 @balagonline and @drashleyfarmer are doing direct mutual aid efforts on here by amplifying, picking up food, delivering food, etc. Follow them and get involved if you are local and are able.
If you are in Austin and have donations that you would like to make, Austin Justice Coalition is accepting donations at Servant Church: 1605 38 1/2 St. Austin. Folk need pretty much anything you think folk need when they are cold, hungry and have no water. Drop offs welcome.
If you have no transportation but have donations please DM me and I can get you in touch with someone to help out.
Allgo Queer People of Color Organization @allgoqpoc is accepting donations and is statewide: http://www.allgo.org . Venmo is @allgo
Austin Mutual Aid is raising money for folk that need hotel rooms https://www.gofundme.com/f/kick-the-cold-austin-mutal-aid
This is a good list of spots across Texas: https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/texas-blackout-mutual-aid-donation-1129703/
As I hear of more efforts/more needs, I will also post here and add to this thread. There is SO MUCH NEED right now that it's truly overwhelming but we are here making it.
If you are in NEED here's a mutual aid request form h/t @balagonline https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bWc494e0muV9Ori4X1Q5SvFh-RDq0petoYfTZ848WQE/viewform?ts=602d5544&edit_requested=true
For those of you in ATX or TX that are stuck at home or without heat or water or food or some combination we are here in solidarity. Hold tight. If you need something DM me. If you are up around and able, check on neighbors. Folk with food/water check on those on your street.
Folk have been asking about deliveries....I'm just not sure whether or not deliveries are making it to the hardest hit areas right now. Best thing to do is to try to coordinate with folk on the ground who can pick up/deliver.
