Okay, so people keep saying this regarding the Gimlet situation.

So let’s play this out some. Gimlet’s POC staffers saw a union as a mechanism for a more racially diverse and equitable workplace.

It’s mgmt fought the union. So what was their mechanism to achieve those goals? https://twitter.com/katatvandy/status/1362457946555179008
*Its
Unions can do a lot of things: push for transparency and regimentation on compensation so that it doesn’t turn out that the white dudes are making 25% more than their brown colleagues with the same titles; push for the diversification of applicant pools; etc
And obviously, they can protect people from some of the bullshit that Eric and others went throughout in the push for those goals

So again: how were the anti-union folks being “good, antiracist people” by thwarting the brown people trying to make it a better place to work?
like, if they were “good, antiracist” people wouldn’t they have had a far less white staff + senior management from the jump?

Wouldn’t they have some kind of systems in place to mitigate/pre-empt all the racist shit it turns out they were aggressively NOT trying to mitigate?
Just say y’all think wassaname and wassaface are your friends in your heads and stop trying to make larger points about how in their shittiness they were actually quite principled
