Property tax update: Senate Local Gov. is preparing to hear SB 1108 this PM which would cap city/county budgets + restrict revenue sources for new construction.
What does this actually mean? That city services would be eroded as growth happens, but budgets can't respond #idleg

In other words - local gov couldn't expand services to new parts of our communities, such as water services, parks maintenance, libraries, fire/EMT, etc. These are the services you both expect gov. to provide & their delivery is why you chose to live where you did #idleg
To help illustrate this point, here are a few op-eds local elected officials & legislators have shared regarding the harm these budget cut bills pose while not providing material relief to taxpayers. That's right - budget cuts DO NOT EQUAL immediate tax relief #idleg

I know property tax convos are hard & nuanced, and I'm still learning too! But let's not forget that city services are what makes our local community the perfect place to call home. While tax relief for homeowner's is key, there are better solutions than budget cuts #idleg
