The same department that the Mayor gave $281 million of federal COVID relief money when the public health department got peanuts.

The same department that can't get its officers to wear masks. https://twitter.com/BlockClubCHI/status/1362427960935014402
I'm fucking tired. And I'm fucking pissed.

I hope you are too.
And we should never forget the 16 shots in the back of teenager Laquan McDonald...then a coordinated cover up.

Or Jon Burge, who tortured false confessions out of Chicagoans for years.
It isn't biased to say this department needs to be gutted.

Murders and car jackings are still skyrocketing, despite the city continuing to throw $$$ at CPD.

We need that money to fix decades of intentional disinvestment from our city.

We have no mental health centers FFS!
Stop being afraid to say Defund the Police...

As though we don't Defund eduction, community resources and mental health care all the time.
If you feel the same way as I do...but you aren't speaking up...

Your silence contributes to the continuing suffering in our city.

We have the funds to actually help our fellow Chicagoans.

We simply choose to spend them on this police department instead.
How are the police supposed to stop a car jacking anyway?

Fix systemic issues that cause car jackings in the first place.

Community investmemt in resources, education, mental health...those are the avenues to solving our crime problem.

We cannot police our way out of it.
But what would we do with the money from police?

Community organizers know exactly how to spend money effectively. We just need to listen to them.

They are doing incredible things with actual impact on shoestring budgets.

Give communities $$$ and let them thrive.
Naperville, a suburb, is constantly touting itself as "safe"

They have approximately 1 officer for every 850 residents.

Chicago has approximately 1 officer for every 225 residents.

Chicago is nearly 4X as policed...almost like increasing police presence doesn't decrease crime?
