It is misleading to think that a) we actually do have all the tech we need and b) that it exists outside of our socio-political systems

my point is that this misleads some people to think that all we need to do is just political will this thing open because all the low-carbon solutions are just sitting there waiting

Thinking we have all the tech presupposes that we know the pathway to net-zero. But, we don't! Precluding this pathway can lock us in to technology tracks that could be dead-ends or very high cost.

This report by @climatechoices is excellent, it shows how much tech uncertainty there is from here to net-zero. Dark is minimum potential light is full potential. Not all of these technologies work together some substitute for others etc. But we need to advance all.
