Ten things the Labour Party could talk about that would be popular with a large proportion of UK voters. We could start talking about them now.
1. There are some institutions in our society that ought not to be sources of private profit: e.g. NHS, Schools, Prisons and Probation.

2. Britain is one of the most unequal of the developed nations. We need to reduce inequality and make the country fairer with opportunities for all.
3. British territories should not be tax havens. Everyone needs to contribute to the nation's resources. Tax in itself is not a bad thing - you get what you pay for, you just have to make the paying bit fair.
4. Fee-paying schools should not have charitable status, even if they do offer a small number of scholarship places. They are only there to benefit the people paying in!
5. Public broadcasters should be run independently of government and should be able to speak without fear of favour. We should consider who is eligible to own our other national media.
6. We need to change our voting system so that the views of the electorate are fairly represented. FPTP doesn't cut it. We need some form of PR. And coalition government is normal and would prevent the excesses of single-party administrations.
7. We need to find ways to spread the wealth and opportunities within this country away from south east England and into the rest of the UK. Regional development, local government funding, and devolution are important.
8. There has to be a better way of getting people into the House of Lords other than that they have done some favours for the government. How can we elect people so the revising chamber has the expertise it needs?
9. The tendering process for public procurement needs to be robust and transparent, and should not award contracts to inappropriate companies with no relevant expertise.
10. The UK would be better off in the European Union. We need people to understand the benefits of being a member of the world's best and strongest community of nations and trading bloc.
