Why has Facebook blocked Australian news and what does it mean for the rest of the world?

The social media giant has blocked people in Australia from viewing and sharing news on its platform in a row over money.

Secondly this ‘law’ in Australia serves to line the pockets of 2 empires aka Rupert Murdoch's News Corp & Seven West Media. NEITHER have glowing records. Both have decimated & taken control of our media. Neither are honest - look at the individuals who own them!
Both Google & Facebook had advised over 2 years - these laws are asking these companies to pay for content that is FREE to every single user who access to the Internet. That payment does not go to journos it goes to the media empires.
Get your heads out of the sand & stop the political bullshit & greed tactics that are being driven by 2 media empires who want a slice of the pie for doing nothing. @Facebook were will within their rights - the Govt were threatening huge fees.
Those costs are passed on. Google is Free. Facebook is Free. Instagram is Free etc They curate and market free content for users - let’s not forget that. If Google search finds. a paid link - the consumer cant read it without paying.
I am fed up with Australian culture that ‘attacks tall poppies’ and has an air of expectation that ‘we will control & take your revenue’. Instead the 2 Media moguls [2 wealthiest families in AU] get off your arses & innovate!
So the facts are 100% clear. Australia is 3rd in the world in media ownership concentration with only China & Egypt higher!! That ‘money’ that the Govt & the naysayers want @Facebook to pay is going to 4 Companies [owned by 2 families]!!
