I know I'm just gonna stir up a great big argument with this, but anyone who thought that was the "worst Direct ever" hasn't been watching Directs for very long. 3DS/Wii U Directs were these GRUELING presentations and you'd be lucky to get one solid reveal that interested you.
September 2019 we got Terry and a Xenoblade remaster. E3 2018 we got Ridley and Mario Party.
We just got a Smash reveal, a new entry in a massively popular series, a major 3D Zelda remaster, Mario Golf, and another exclusive Square RPG.
Faaaaar far away from the worst one ever.

I mean I'm still carrying the emotional scars from some of those early Directs. I wake up in a cold sweat hearing Devil's Third music. The concept of lots of snappy little headlines and trailers was not a thing. ENTERTAINMENT VALUE was not a thing.
We got it so good right now.

ALSO. Any Direct is going to be a lot easier to swallow if they become a regular occurrence again. It's hard to be broken up about anything if another one is coming in a few months. There could be way more stuff for them to announce. What we all need right now is patience.
This was never going to be "a year and a half of reveals crammed into one Direct." This was things getting back to normal. And judging by what we saw, I think more Directs with more stuff for this year are all but guaranteed. So I feel like the future is bright!
