I continue to get a lot of questions about snowy/icy roads. @NashvillePW is very transparent about their strategy: they’re focused on primary/secondary routes, and they’re working constantly on those.

Primary routes are determined based on a number of factors, but access to essential services is the most important—hospitals, medical facilities, nursing homes, social service facilities, and major transit lines. They are often main arteries through the city.
Secondary routes are typically roads that allow access to primaries.
@NashvillePW has 28 trucks, for 28 primary routes and 28 secondary routes.
New requests don't get handled till primary/secondary are clear, which is harder with new precipitation continuing.

Our winter weather response is built around essential access—we would need to scale up quite a bit in terms of equipment and manpower in order to clear all streets across the city.
