Some people can fake being a leader better than others. Like I think Beto O'Rourke is a fairly sincere guy but probably his motives are somewhat mixed when it came to helping other Texans. The important thing was he was doing it though. Cruz is an act but it's tiring to keep up.

But it's just a gig to him and he has to say and do certain things to keep the gig. And especially as he really wants a bigger gig for reasons that are between him, his fraud of a dad, and a very patient therapist.

Still the whole Republican leadership scam seems to be falling apart in Texas. It's tinpot dictator and old South demagogue tactics. Use all of this bluster and patriotism and cultural flashpoints (bigotry) to keep enough people happy to pass tax cuts and keep regs low.

But there's nothing behind the facade. It's all hat no cattle. And they have done it to themselves as they have sold the idea that government doing anything is socialism and a province of the Left. Their goal is to tear it all down and if not to do nothing but distract/shitpost.

That works out fine until a real issue manifests itself and suddenly no one has the worldview or KSA's wherewithal to do anything useful.

So may as well jet off to Cancun while the rubes are left behind with the reality you never told them about.
