Salt trucks are out and ready to go on the big highway is like Route 50 in the beltway. Here in Wheaton it’s sleeting not snowing right now. More today @WTOP

The parking lots are glazed here in downtown Gaithersburg, but route 355 is just wet. It’s all sleet and rain that is going to freeze on contact here. Any time I’ve had to make a turn it is been slippery.

You can see what part of the windshield my wipers can hit, and what part it can’t. That frozen spot is a good solid quarter inch thick ice

Driving up 355 in Clarksburg, I’m sure there have been salt trucks here in the early morning hours, but you can’t really tell. The roads aren’t necessarily slippery because it’s all sleet on the ground but you can’t see any lane markings either. Luckily traffic is really light
