2) Crenshaw cannot lose status by backing the wrong policy, Abbot cannot lose status, Cruz cannot lose status, oil and gas cannot lose status, how dare you make this about politics except here’s *my* rant about the Green New Deal. We cannot admit a mistake THAT WOULD BE WEAK.

7) Asking for help, be it personally or in the form of accepting that we need each other as expressed through collective action, is GOOD. Forcing people to go on their own because of some fucked up Moreau beast of Calvinism and macho pride is not just bad it’s *anti-human*.
8) Literally anti-human. Inhuman. Against our nature.The opposite of how we survived and thrived and grew as a species. It’s why the one word you saw today, over and over again regarding Rush Limbaugh (bringing it around like a pro) was “cruelty.”
9) Causing other people to suffer unjust pain is cruel, and we *know* cruelty, and we in our very gut (most of us) know that is is wrong. Because we know, in our gut, that we are supposed to help each other, and *be helped*. That is humbling. And for some, as we see, terrifying.
10) There’s no easy cure for this toxic stew. But that’s got to be one of humanism’s missions moving forward. Relentlessly reinforcing, without supernaturalism, that collectively caring for people’s safety and welfare takes priority over ... winning? Yeah, weirdly, winning.
