We don't talk enough about the good things happening in San Francisco. Lots of park and playground upgrades, new bike lanes, etc. The area around Market and Van Ness is going to be transformed in the next couple years. Check out: https://www.10southvanness.com/proposed-index
A couple blocks away at Market and 8th, Trinity apartments is finishing up phase IV of their development which includes a new Whole Foods at ground level, the largest one in the city. https://www.trinitysf.com/whole-foods-is-coming-soon-to-trinity-place/
A block away on Market and 6th st, Ikea is taking over the empty mall and putting in a "City Ikea" and filling the rest of the space with additional retail https://www.sfweekly.com/news/ikea-coming-to-downtown-san-francisco/
A block from that is a massive 4 acre project which will include a ton of new housing, offices, retail, and open space. https://socketsite.com/archives/2021/02/new-tower-tops-out-on-track-for-2021-completion.html
Over in the Presidio there's a new park being built on top of the new tunnels that lead to the Golden Gate Bridge. This should open this year

Salesforce Park was open for less than a year before covid shut it down. It was one of my favorite places in the city to hang out, have lunch, and take meetings.
There are *13* playgrounds getting upgraded in the city *right now*. We've visited most that are completed and they are spectacular. https://sfrecpark.org/1124/LetsPlaySF-Initiative
The tennis courts in Golden Gate Park have been under construction for a year or two and will be opening *this year*. I walked by the site today and they look spectacular. The city has 100+ free tennis courts, many with incredible views.
These are longer term projects but eventually the Central Subway and Van Ness corridor will open, and UCSF will have a brand new hospital at Parnassus!
The @sfzoo will open its new snow leopard enclosure this year to house the new cubs that were born in San Francisco (not at UCSF!) in 2018. https://twitter.com/sfzoo/status/1030580739220238337
San Francisco will soon have 3000 parklets for outdoor dining. I hope these stick around forever https://sf.eater.com/2021/2/17/22287583/parklets-takeout-tri-valley
