Student loan forgiveness would absolutely help me, and *many* other Black people who have no generational wealth and had to take on all that debt just for a chance at getting ahead.

But you know what would make an even greater impact, and help much more people? Reparations.
The far left gets silent on that topic, because God forbid the most disenfranchised Americans—and let’s be very clear, our situation was *strategically* crafted—be lifted up when it’d mean ignoring the demands of privileged cosplay socialists.

They don’t want that conversation.
And no, I’m not bringing up reparations to make a point, I’m bringing it up because it is the absolute least this country could to to atone for horrors of chattel slavery, and indignities to humanity that have NEVER been addressed.
Nah, I’m bringing up reparations because I’m sick of watching my people suffer through white indifference/thinly veiled disdain.

I’m bringing it up because it’s past time for a very uncomfortable conversation about who deserves to be centered, and why.
You aren’t a ā€œradicalā€ if you aren’t pushing for *the* most radical agenda, boo.
Pardon me, the closer I get to finishing this African studies degree, the more irritated I am with people who claim to be down but really don’t give a shit about Black folk.

And by ā€œpardon me,ā€ I mean ā€œskirting this topic makes y’all some real cowards and fake-ass allies.ā€
And if we’re being EXTRA honest—no, this isn’t something that should be pushed back a few decades and studied.

Grandchildren of enslaved Africans are still living and breathing.

I don’t think y’all heard me—I said *grandchildren.* This country owes them even more immediately.
