So what are ZK Rollups?

Here's a simple breakdown:

PART 1:

As more and more projects are built on #Ethereum, it becomes increasingly obvious that there are issues of scaling that come with it, e.g., the absurdly high gas fees we've seen the last few weeks.

PART 2:

This is where ZK Rollups come into play. A ZK Rollup is a Layer 2 scaling solution that enables a single on-chain transaction to validate multiple transactions stored using side-chains. If you don't know what Layer 2 scaling solutions are, check out PART 3.
PART 3:

Layer 2 scaling solutions are an umbrella term for solutions that are designed to help scale your application by handling transactions off of the congested main Ethereum blockchain. Back to ZK Rollups in PART 4.
PART 4:

ZK Rollups basically bundle hundreds of transfers into a single transaction instead of the current system of counting every token transfer as one transaction on the Ethereum blockchain.
PART 5:

The smart contract will then deconstruct and verify all of the transfers bundled up into that one transaction. ZK Rollups reduce the amount of computing and storage requirements for validating the block by reducing the amount of data held in a transaction.
FINAL PART:

So why should I care? Simply put, projects that incorporate ZK Rollups will be able to handle transactions off the currently overcrowded #Ethereum chain. This will result in lightning fast transactions and ridiculously low gas fees.
