I'm starting to think Republicans look at their own politicians the way other people look at rock stars.

It's a celebration of elite deviance, a chance to live vicariously through those allowed to do things you would never accept from your friends and neighbors.
While some people marvel at sordid tales of wild parties and excessive sex and drugs, Republican voters celebrate abusive personalities who lie, cheat, and abuse others at will.
In some weird way, it seems this counts as freedom to Republican voters. They experience a taste of it through a Maga rally or a good dose of hate porn, but mostly, they just live vicariously through the bullies and bigots that star in the GOP entertainment circle.
Like fans at a rock concert, Republican voters know they will never live the life of freedom they see in their celebries, but it makes them feel better knowing someone gets by with that.
