I hope everyone here knows that they can learn ANYTHING for less than $100, and most things for free.

Most art forms are attainable for less than $500.

Most of the manufacturing processes can be had for under $1000.

Wealth needs to be measured by time not money.
I'm not saying this is easy. It isn't. Not by a long shot. But if you can make the initial investment, it's literally just a learning curve.

The base equipment is usually a decent PC. Doesn't need to be a "gaming rig" but the more powerful it is, the further it takes you.
Add a $50 drawing tablet and you can start digital art, animation, graphic design.

Our company STARTED right here.
This spot ☝️.

$300 gets you a killer drawing monitor upgrade later.

For software there's Gimp, Inkscape, Krita, Medibang, and countless other FOSS out there.
Add a $300 3d printer plus some time in Tinkercad and Blender and you'll be in a place where you can design and prototype physical designs.

From there you can ship it off to shapeways etc for exotic materials, or look at resin printers and resin casting materials (dice anyone?)
If you work with your hands, $100 will get you a 5lb bucket of monster clay and the tools to sculpt. then some platinum cure silicone and resin or casting plastic will get you into resin toys and diy figures, toys.

Some research will give you enough to make keycaps, and that= 💰
Screen printing?

Done right you could get started with $500 and be printing without even owning a real press.

My first press was built from home depot parts and a boat swivel ffs.
Any other process I've seen is cost of materials and willingness to fail.

You will fail a lot.

Rejection sensitivity has held me back more than anything in this life.

I'll let you know when I beat it, but if YOUR ego can take a few dents nothing else should stop you.
When people tell you to bootstrap, they aren't necessarily being assholes, (some are, but fuck them)

Bootstrapping means you build your minimum viable hustle and reinvest until you can make it a business or it can pay for the next attempt.

If you're reading this, you CAN do it.
$500-1000 will build you a CNC if you've ever had an Erector set or decent lego and ikea skills. (Estlecam: $75.)

Embroidery is about the same, and the free (inkscape + ink/stitch) software is better than anything paid out there, but the learning curve is a little tough.
Sorry for the long thread here. My brain feels trapped in my body tonight, figured I'd drop some of my random knowledge on yous.
