I'm so tired of the concept of rural poor white = "White Trash"
You know who's trash, Limbaugh, McConnell, Trump. People who've seen the world and decide to demonize it for profit. Poor, rural people can still hold AWFUL views but if you invest in them, they can change.

And I fucking grew up being called white trash by white suburban kids who'd come to my poor, shit town because they could waterski all weekend on the lake I could only afford to live across the street from. Most of them were more racist than anyone I knew.
It really has been eating at me when media tried to excuse the attempt on the Michigan governor’s life by showing photos of their homes with things like “you’d be angry too!” Their fucking houses were nicer than any of my non lakefront neighbors. Poor is not trash.
I’m in no way excusing the racism, homophobia, sexism that’s rampant in white rural Americans but there’s a lot of people there that don’t deserve to be written off as trash.
