Clinical social workers have been “in” the psychotherapy “box” literally for decades.

Also: they are full too. https://twitter.com/cdcaron/status/1362175334767075330
And almost every therapist I know is overwhelmed/overbooked/overworked and has been for a year.
Also: I think *psychotherapists* have to be the ones to start to think “outside the box” because the professions don’t have the manpower face this tidal wave one client at a time.

I strongly encourage practitioners to incorporate more group support modalities into practice
Our nation has been in the throes of a multi-faceted psychologically traumatizing crisis - mass death, isolation, disenfranchised bereavement, disrupted social, medical, financial structures, all educational, care & support networks impaired.
The tidal wave of grief/depression/isolation/addiction/abuse/anxiety is and is going to continue to be massive- and there is no way we will get through this one on one.

Individualism has compunded this crisis and individualism in mental health provision isn’t going to save us
If we don’t start casting WIDE NETS we are going to fail hundreds of thousands of people.

Grief and bereavement groups
Pandemic anxiety support groups
Etc etc.
Support groups by profession and risk level:

Essential workers support groups
Medical workers support groups
Support groups for caretaker, for parents. Etc.

As/if a crisis lifts, more traumatic symptoms often emerge.
Also: groups allow much mote flexibility and accessibility for fees - and it is easier to offer more low fee and pro bono support in a group modality

We aren’t going to heal this by ourselves. We are only going to be able to heal together.
If anyone is running such groups, with inclusive fee structures I am happy to amplify them here:

Here are some:

I’ve run six rounds of a pay-what-you-can group for Helping Professionals, and I am glad to talk to anyone who is interested in getting a group started about my experience, about what worked and what didn’t etc
You can edit it to tailor it to your own language, population, fee structure- and I’ll be glad to do what I can to amplify on here and at my website.
