I think it was late 1989. I was a young stockbroker, doing the noon and 4 pm stock reports on radio station WYSL in Lakeville NY.
Never had to leave my desk, all done by phone. WYSL was then broadcasting at, I believe, 500 watts.
Once a month I would visit the station for a half hour live interview about money & markets. All very extemporaneous and informal.
The youngest employee was a woman from Geneseo, @RebeccaLeclair6, who went on to considerable media acclaim, but then was a recent college grad.
Every month when I visited, I would bring donuts. There was no donut shop in Lakeville, but there was one in Brighton across the street from my office, so I thought they might like a snack.
One month, I showed up at the radio station, with my box of donuts for my regular interview. The station had a small staff and I knew everyone, but this day there was a man there whom I had never met. His name was Rush Limbaugh.
Never heard of the guy, odd name. He came across shy and reticent. We chatted briefly about nothing, but found we had one thing in common: we both like the raised glazed donuts.
That’s it, that’s all I have. Never listened much because I was busy at work all day. RIP Rush Limbaugh.
