after ~1wk reading about blockchain ecosystem I've basically gone from open scorn to really excited/interested in possibilities

it's striking how everyone in the space is so optimistic and so unencumbered by notions of what is or is not reasonable or possible, way more "why not" than "why"

I get a vibe a lot like the early 90s web? not that I'm old enough to remember then but, idk it just seems really fertile and people messing around with a technology/platform in its infancy

also this is why most blockchain applications sound so stupid. "we'll put your inventory management system on the blockchain!" is a solution looking for a problem

it's too young for that!! the whole point is no one knows what all this is good for yet, it's still there to be discovered, that's what makes it exciting

of course if you try to use it like a database you get a shitty database, I'm sure a lot of people thought the web was a shitty whatever before it was clearly "good for" anything

but anyway I'm hype to see where it goes
