6YO and 9YO have decided that they will never play together again. They are working on an amicable division of toys as we speak.
They’ve hit an early snag. 9YO says he should get more toys since he started the toy collection before 6YO was born. 6YO does not consent.
Ah. This is now a thread.

6YO and 9YO agreed to an even split where they take turns picking.

Was going fine until 9YO accused 6YO of intentionally picking the toys he likes over the toys that 6YO actually plays with.
Gaslighting. Each is trying to convince the other that they’ve NEVER liked the Batman action figures. Neither party is convinced.

9YO has Batman and 6YO has managed to horde all the Batman centric villains in a savvy move.
Trade has been worked out sending various Gotham villains one way in exchange for (slightly more) Marvel heroes in the other direction.

All parties agree that switch games are common property.

I may not have to get involved here at all.
Is this family law? Am I watching family lawyers right now?
It all went to hell. 6YO learned that 9YO has a stash of toys in his room that have not been subject to division. They’re arguing about it over dinner.

9YO says these are his “special toys” and 6YO can’t have them. 6YO accused 9YO of being sneaky.

I got them to eat dinner
Overheard over dinner...

9YO accuses 6YO of ALSO stashing toys in his room that haven’t been divided.

6YO takes the view that that lego are NOT toys but building blocks and hence not subject to the original agreement re: division of toys.

This is a tense dinner.
Sorry for the late update. 6YO entered into 9YO's room without prior authorization in order to seize the disputed toys. There was no prior authorization. 9YO decided to defend the property that he claims is rightfully is. Violence ensued and I had to pull them apart.
All negotiations have come to an end for the evening. It is now bedtime.
