Images of the officially-licensed ruby-hilted dagger. Photos courtesy of @WilsonGrooms, Robert Jordan's cousin. Also an image of the book icon and @WOTonPrime dagger. Thread about the differences...!

I love the @WOTonPrime dagger design. So creepy and ominous! The biggest difference from the book version is that the dagger has been moved from the base of the pommel to the middle of the blade. Here's why I think it was moved...
As a filmmaker, you're constantly seeking visuals that sell the story in the best way. By placing the ruby in the middle, it's more visually noticeable. It plays to the camera better. The dagger and the ruby are the important things here. Not the ruby's location.
Another difference is that the book icon and the licensed dagger design both feature snakes in their design. I don't see any snakes in the WoTonPrime item, but 1. We don't see the whole thing, 2. snakes aren't important or iconic to its design and 3. Does the book mention snakes?
The licensed dagger shown here is from Museum Replicas. Alas, their license has expired but I expect we'll see TV show replicas of this dagger via @valyriansteel, who already has the license.
The dagger photos shown in this thread are from Wilson's son Jonathan, who was gifted this item by Robert Jordan. It was a prototype made by Museum Replicas that RJ personally approved back in the late 1990's.
Some other time I'll do a thread about all of the Museum Replicas WOT items. There were some very cool ones (heron-marked sword and Perrin's axe) and some odd ones (Seanchan sword).
