How did the US mainstream fully discover and embraced Fall and IF ?

Well, it all started when TT Torrez, a radio presenter and music director for New York’s Hot 97 was scrolling through YouTube one day and noticed the amount of views Fall had gathered at the time...
This simply mean only one thing; Fall was already a BIG hit before fully penetrating the US market.

Without payola impact. Do not be deceived.

I repeat, zero payola.
TT went on to listen to the song, loved it and thought it would be a good fit for their radio rotation.
In order to ascertain her assumption, Torrez decided to run a call-out research which is commonly done by radio stations to determine if songs connect with their listeners...
After adding Fall to Hot 97’s rotation in the summer of 2018, Torrez’s research started to show the song was resonating.

It was one of the Top 100 most shazam’d singles in America at the time, was a Top 10 record on Shazam in New York City and 3rd most shazam song in Atlanta...
One platform US radios use in monitoring a song’s popularity and see if they are in demand is the Shazam charts.
With Fall sitting pretty atop US Shazam charts, other stations started adding it to their rotation, which skyrocketed the airplay from 482 to over 2k in April, 2019...
With Fall recording a success in her call-out research, TT Torrez then bagan playing other songs associated with Davido, including “IF” and “Way too fly,” a collaboration with A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
She also started playin more foreign songs, including Drogba (Joanna) by Afro B.
Basically, Davido paved the way for other Afrobeats superstars in the US market.
He did that. Without Payola or featuring a big US artists.

Every other good things that came with the songs did after they blew up ORGANICALLY.

Cheers !
