I don't know who needs to hear this but:
Looter shooters don't need PvP to be fun and engaging.
Destiny is an exception and not the rule. They have prided themselves as being a shooter first. They also have had years to iterate on a genre and really make it their own.

I write this because a lot of people think "Destiny" when they hear the words "Looter Shooter" and I think that really does a disservice to other games in the genre.
Destiny, and moreover Bungie, came off the heels of having an impactful studio based around it's shooter genre games that INCLUDED a live service.
They have done live service before and are able to do it again in anything they make.

Other studios don't have those years of knowledge, know-how and skill to come close to bringing two genre's together where the core focus can be 1. A loot chase-ing, boss bashing pve AND 2. an engaging PvP.
EVEN THEN, Destiny struggles with the balance between giving the community the ultimate power fantasy and having a fair and balanced pvp.
Stasis and the new weapons and mods have shown that.

Having PvP in your game is a risk on all fronts. You want to provide meaningful reasons for people to play while not creating an environment where "overpowered" skills run rampant.
This can only be done by a studio with the talent and knowledge to get it done AND TIME

I know a lot of people like do the whole PvE vs PvP thing but the truth is, the fact that Destiny can achieve both is a miracle in and of itself. I hope to see both get better in the future.
