& while the ussr expropriated the fuck out of its peasantry (& don’t get me wrong i hate farmers as much as the next guy) it actually didn’t primarily speed their industrialization, which derived more surplus from trade,aid,& foreign credit,than it did agricultural expropriation.
The salutary effects of expropriation affected industrialization secondarily because it forced people en Masse into cities and drove down shadow wages by detaching people from land and making them compete for employment from a monopsonistic employer
i.e. it created a massive reserve army of unemployed labor dependent on the state
