Deysi Choque was jailed when the coup regime took power in November 2019 on false charges related to the Montero conflict. After 10 months in prison, she was elected to the Congress as a deputy for Santa Cruz (MAS-IPSP). We spoke with the lawmaker during our local carnival.
This is video of when security forces went to take fearless Deysi Choque on November 25, 2019 as the Jeanine Añez coup dictatorship rounded up MAS leaders. She was one of more than 1,200 political prisoners of the regime.
Deysi Choque:

"When I received my credential my eyes filled with tears, because one year after winning the candidacy with charges on my back and 10 months in prison, I was filled with pride for not having betrayed my people or escaped from the dictatorship that I had to live."
