My Rush story: A few years ago, I was pulling up to my office and when I got out of my truck the mailman was at the mailbox. He had a little radio with him and I noticed he was listening to Rush. So I told him that I had just been listening to the same show. 1/
He finished putting the mail in the box and then came over to chat with me. He said, "You know...about 25 years ago I used to be a huge liberal. I was a big union guy. I always voted straight Democrat." He went on to relay his story about how he started listening to Rush. 2/
He said one morning in the mid-90s he was out on his route listening to a sports show on talk radio. After the show went off, Rush came on. He'd never listened to him before and didn't really care to, but he left on the first few minutes of the show. 3/
At first he didn't like Rush at all. He said, "I thought he was a blowhard, but what I didn't get at first was that his self-aggrandizing humor was done tongue-in-cheek." He continued to listen & then he noticed something strange happening: he agreed with Rush on many things. 4/
My mailman ended up listening to the entire show, noticing that he was nodding along with much of what Rush was saying. Then he listened the next day. Then the next. And the next. He credits Rush with really making him think about politics and his values. He was a changed man. 5/
After 20-something years, my mailman was still listening to Rush every day. Now just imagine millions of other people impacted in the same way. Rush was a giant. /end
