Two dynamics currently unfolding in US Congress, aimed to raise the pressure to apply PEESCA sanctions on #NordStream2

➡️ In the House: two Republicans (Michael McCaul, Adam Kinzinger) & two Democrats (Marcy Kaptur, Ruben Gallego) complain that Biden administrat' has missed +
the Feb 16 deadline to issue the mandatory Congressional report on entities, espec' vessels, engaging in sanctionable activity related to NS2.
And they provide a list of such vessels ⬆️

They also ask to Secretary Blinken on: i) the status of ongoing consultations with allies +
➡️ In the Senate : Senators Jim Risch (Republican) and Jeanne Shaheen (Democrat) called on Biden, in a letter on Feb 12, to fully implement the current sanctions. They also asked the State Department not to delay issuing the Congressional report, which was due by Feb 16 +
➡️ Summing up :
In the light of the reports (Habdelsblatt) of the internal discussions within Departments of State, Treasury and Energy under the leadership of National Security Council, on how to proceed with NS2, the U. S. Congress is raising pressure over the administration +
to implement the sanctions.

*What to follow :
1) If Congress pressure would further ratchet up: both in scope (number of Congressmen involved) & intensity (number of initiatives)
2) To what extent the Congress pressure would influence Biden administration's approach and +
ultimate decision (PEESCA sanctions? Grand Bargain ? other?) on #NordStream2 #ONGT
