Sentencing hearing for Brayden Bushby is back from recess.
The Crown says "the sentence is not the value of Barbara Kentner."
Maximum penalty is life for manslaughter, there is no minimum. 8-12 years is being proposed by the Crown.
Sentencing hearing for Brayden Bushby has resumed after a short break with the defence now making closing statements. "This case has garnered a level of notoriety we can't ignore." Defence expresses condolences.
"Bushby should not be made an example of or become a scapegoat for the crimes of his community" says defence counsel who are arguing for a 4-year term of imprisonment.
The four years would be minus the 18 days he has served, defence suggests they bump that to a month of time served. Term would be served in a federal prison.
Sentencing for Brayden Bushby will take place on May 4th.
Again, the Crown is asking for 8-12 years. Defence is asking for 4 years in a federal prison, minus one month.
