Tomorrow we land a rover on another planet. It's carrying an experiment that'll produce oxygen from the carbon dioxide FOR FUTURE ASTRONAUTS TO BREATHE AND USE AS FUEL TO RETURN. It cannot be overstated how incredible this is: It's A MISSION FOR THE FUTURE OF SPACE EXPLORATION.
It will collect rock samples for a FUTURE MISSION TO PICK UP AND RETURN TO EARTH. The fact that this mission is carrying experiments with it that are directly tied to future missions just blows my mind. We're seeing glimpses of the future of space exploration, everyone.
Oh yeah, it's also taking a HELICOPTER WITH IT. Now that's cool, but you might ask, why? Because we wanna know if we can fly in the thin and tenuous Martian atmosphere. And because it's just freaking cool. WE ARE SENDING A HELICOPTER TO FLY ON ANOTHER PLANET.
There are SO MANY FIRSTS with this mission: producing oxygen for FUTURE ASTRONAUTS TO BREATHE AND RETURN TO EARTH, collecting samples we'll BRING BACK, searching for signs of past microbial life, and FLYING A HELICOPTER. ON ANOTHER PLANET.
