10 simple tips to overcome your social anxiety.

Cure the virus that plagues your mind.

//Thread//
1. Challenge Your Thoughts

Your thoughts do not equal reality.

Think of yourself as a scientist trying to find truth.

Your anxiety forms a hypothesis.

It is your job to find out what is true.

More often than not you'll find out how full of shit that little voice is.
2. Practice Stoicism

What do emperors, athletes, and entrepreneurs have in common?

Stoic Philosophy.

In times of stress, stoicism gives you a framework to fall back on.

Philosophy is not the words we read, it's the life we live.

Choose one that's stood the test of time.
3. Exercise

Exercise changes your brain chemistry in 2 ways.

1) Increases production of anti-anxiety chemicals such as serotonin.

2) Activates frontal regions of the brain responsible for helping control the amygdala (our reacting system to real or imagined threats).
4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

Muscles don't grow unless placed under stress.

The same goes for your confidence.

Start small and build yourself up.

Make small talk.
Make eye contact.
Make yourself heard.

Be consistent and I guarantee you'll grow.
5. Journal

Put your thoughts into physical form.

This allows you to analyze your process of thinking.

- Ask yourself better questions.
- Come up with better solutions.

Over time you can analyze periods of confidence and anxiety and find common themes.
6. Stand Up For Yourself

Not speaking up for yourself speaks volumes to your subconscious.

It tells it you're not someone of value.

We align our identity with our actions.

Choose yours carefully.
7. Meditate

Meditation is the act of listening to the background music of your mind.

When we notice the melody change tunes, we can begin to look for what changed it.

As little as 5 minutes a day will have a big impact.
8. Read

Your current ways of thinking aren't working.

If you want a new mindset, input new ideas.

Start learning from those you want to model.

Just make sure to apply what you learn.

There comes a point where intaking more information becomes a form of mental masturbation.
9. Fix Your Body Language

Our brain relies on our body to give it feedback.

So give it feedback that you're in control.

- Smile
- Stop fidgeting
- Stand up straight
- Maintain eye contact
- Develop a firm handshake

Your mind follows your body and your body follows your mind.
10. Become Self-Reliant

If you're reliant on others for money, health, or happiness.

Then of course you're going to be worried about what others say.

Your survival depends on them.

You're a grown adult, start making your life your responsibility.
