firstly, i’d like to start with the point the op made: ‘sidelined finn’. yes, some people like his plot, some don’t. however, this does not mean he was sidelined. if you look and compare each character and their screentime, you’d find that finn had the third most
screen time in that film alone. the force awakens was the one who mislead the audience to believe he was a lead, not the last jedi. if you have a bone to pick about finn not being the lead, the last jedi is not the film you need to be critiquing
‘stereotyped poe’, i don’t know what to say about this one. the only ‘reasoning’ i’ve heard about this is ‘poe is angry towards holdo’ so people believe he’s being misogynistic? i’d like to say that his character was a devout pilot who wanted to be top in his field, then when
he had the opportunity to prove himself, holdo stepped in and took his chance. him disliking holdo is plainly because his character wanted to be in charge, it had nothing to do with misogyny and shit like that
‘doesn’t pass the bechdel test’, literally i’m... ?? are you guys really that nit picky?
the point about laura dern’s character’s clothing... he had her wear a dress to prove that women can be strong and feminine at the same time, instead of pushing the narrative that a female character can only be strong if she wears traditionally masculine clothing, etc

what some of this fandom needs to realise is that most of these ‘issues’ originally started with tfa and the direction it was headed
most of you need a reality check and have to start realising that not everything is that deep, thanks
it’s all fake woke bullshit and frankly it’s quite embarrassing that a 14 year old has more common sense than half this fandom
there’s no issue with disliking the film, but spewing out these wrong and stupid critiques is pointless and stupid. lots of other starwars films have way more issues but you only decide to go after the ones you dislike, very hypocritical
