AnandiBai Joshi: First female Physician from Bombay Presidency.

She was born on 1st March 1865
Daughter of Gunputrao Amritaswar Joshee & Gungabai Joshee came from Wealthy landlord family in Kalyan, but lost all wealth due to British Imposition
At age of 9, she was married to 29 years old Gopalrao Joshi.Gopalrao was encouraged Anandi to study English and Sanskrit.He use to teach her at home, even tried to enroll in a Missionary School but did not suceed.
At age of 14 she gave birth to a Son,but the baby couldn't survive
She knows the cause of this was the poor medical facility and was uncomfortable to express concern to Male doctors. There was no native female doctor.
She decided to become a doctor and her support send her to the US for Medical Education.
Even after society pressure, her husband wrote a letter to Missionary but they told them to get converted to Christianity before coming to the US. They refused to get convert. The letter got published in Princeton Missionary Review & Mrs. Theodicia Carpenter read that Letter
She responded to the letter. Anandi uses to call her "Mawashi" (aunt) whom she uses to tell about Indian culture, Traditions.
In year 1883, at age 19 she sail from Calcutta to New york
She got admission to Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania
She struggled a lot, as neighbors use to throw stones, spit on her.
In the year 1886, she received her Medical Degree and was appointed as the Physician Incharge of the Women's Ward of Albert Edward Hospital Kolhapur.
Unfortunately due to poor health and Tuberculosis
She died on Feb.26.1887 in Poonah. Her ashes were placed in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery in Poughkeepsie,New York

Other achievement:
•She got the honor from Queen Victoria when she was studying
•Crate Venous was named after her "Joshee"
