I've been getting questions recently to why I'm not doing more smash right nos.
I have zero reason to like Smash Ultimate in its current form.

Smash has always proven to be a game that is simply not suited for full time casters.
If you want to survive financially as an esports commentator, stay away from fully committing to this game unless you're a SS tier caster.
Rates are abhorrently low 95% of the time.

Is that the fault of TOs? Mostly no.
This game has built itself up to being an underground powerhouse.

It IS an inherent problem. The quality of the community has tanked from the lack of moderation and support/intervention from the dev

I'm spoiled now, I come from now VAL that has its esports scene 100% backed by the dev. And other FGCs are simply thriving from the support from their devs.

But I'm stuck in Orlando. A place where we have WEEKLY TOURNAMENTS ON LAN.
Among other things that I don't want to mention, I refuse to touch my region with a 5 foot pole.

I think this is a given, but:
THIS GAME HAS THE WORST ONLINE I HAVE EVER SEEN FROM A TRIPLE A GAME.
How people take online tournaments seriously is BEYOND me, and the TOs/admins have to work 200% harder to make them work.

I like smash, it's one of my favorite games ever, but there are so many issues with the scene and the competitive landscape that simply is not suited for myself right now.
"The right opportunity" will always sprout up, but for now, I'll focus on other endeavors.
