During January 2020, members of the Border Violence Monitoring Network (BVMN) gathered 21 testimonies of pushbacks, impacting a total of 684 people-on-the-move

When combined, these updates represent a violent start to 2021, consistent with recent years https://www.borderviolence.eu/balkan-region-report-january-2021/
As a network comprised of orgs active in Greece & the Western Balkans, this was produced via a joint-effort between @areyousyrious, @mobileinfoteam, @NoNameKitchen1, @rigarduev, @JosoorNet, InfoKolpa, @collective_aid, @FreshResponse, and @disinfaux and other anonymous member orgs
One aspect covered is several testimonies alleging cooperation between Romanian and Serbian authorities in pushbacks to Serbia
Out of the 16 testimonies of Romanian pushbacks gathered by BVMN members @collective_aid and @NoNameKitchen1 in 2020, 12 include reports of Romanian border officials notifying Serbian authorities and handing over apprehended transit groups https://www.borderviolence.eu/violence-reports/december-16-2020-2300-near-vrsac-serbia/
Romania pushbacks come at a time of increased transit attempts along the Serbian-Romanian border. Pushbacks have been described as being carried out by Romanian authorities clad in balaclava masks, enacted similar forms of violence as in Croatia/Hungary https://www.borderviolence.eu/violence-reports/january-5-2021-0200-near-secaseni-romania/
