Being prepared for disasters (natural or otherwise) is a luxury. It means that someone had both the time and the money to prepare. Especially when you are preparing for a natural disaster that is unlikely to strike your region.
Its weird that Northerners are pretending that if they lost power for a week straight in sub-freezing temperatures that their houses and buildings would magically not suffer property damage.
Its disgusting that they are pretending they wouldn't lose human life. My school does a yearly coat drive for our students because many either do not have coats or do not have good coats for their children. This is Nebraska but coats are expensive.
Whenever the cold bursts hit the Northern states your poor and disadvantaged and elderly are always at risk for exposure, we lose people every year. You fucking jackals.
And its ASININE for liberals in liberal states to pretend that they have amazing public infrastructure.

You do not. Every single state has failing public infrastructure. If its not your power, then its your water sub systems which are critical in nearly every state.
Not to mention, that the liberals in red states that you praise/beg for congresspeople every year are in the same danger as all the conservatives. But I guess they just dont matter anymore. Because you got the majority you wanted, so now everyone can freeze, huh? Theyre people!
Morals of the story-

Don't be a ghoul
Demand better infrastructure, make it something you actively vote on as an issue
Demand better emergency relief response from your state and nationally
Volunteer/Donate to local relief efforts
And an addendum- there isn't a single state in this continent that can't have a natural disaster: earthquake, tornado, hurricane, blizzard, drought, storms volcano, tsunami, flooding. Most are at risk from multiples. Eventually your state will need aid. So fuck off criticizing.
