friendly reminder that a label on your gender or sexuality is a tool that is supposed to serve you, not a test you have to pass, not a cudgel to bludgeon people, and not a box you get stuffed in that constricts your breathing or your movement or your imagination
no matter how much people try to use it against you per the above, that is not its purpose
Tools exist to help us accomplish tasks which we would not be capable of unaided. Labels we choose for ourselves are supposed to enhance our capacity and agency in our own lives, expand our ability to imagine, think and act in new ways. If they don’t, they’re not worth anything
If I could edit tweets I would edit the first one to say “a label for...” not a label “on” to emphasize my point here but oh well.
