Capitalism is delayed gratification.

If you invest & wait, you'll be rewarded.

The longer, the better.

But how does one cultivate delayed gratification? How does it relate to fields outside of finance?

Let me try..
Delayed gratification isn't only about money & sitting on your hands.

Time can be invested too.

Time to prepare. To do the reps. To practice a certain thing many times with no immediate gratification.

The sole goal is to be ready to play the game when it comes to town.
Musicians spend 1,000s of hours preparing to play with other top musicians or to compose that one song.

Artists spend 1,000s of hours preparing to paint that one painting.
The greatest in all fields pre-pay the seeds of success long before the rewards are reaped.
Delayed gratification takes courage & discipline.

As James McNeill Whistler said, “It’s the pain of giving birth!”

Peers and family might label your copious hours of preparation as weird & wasted time.
There will be internal challenges along the way.

Obstacles will make you question your decisions.

No progress is made for a long time. You might think other people were right, you might be wasting your time.
Only you know what your time is worth.

Tune in deeply to what the voice inside you says. It will tell you the truth.
You will know which path is right for you when you find it. All the obstacles won't be a chore. They will be welcome challenges.
Eventually the return greatly exceeds the cost…sometime.

You need to maintain courage & wait for luck.

But the journey will be the funnest part.
