Many things in Sweden do not get to the outside. A thread.
People in other countries (i.e. Germany ) mostly have a completely different impression than many people living here.

often viewed as alarmists, but Spring 2020 was a time of horror (yes horror) for many.
There was a shortage of C19 tests, it was mostly impossible to get one (only exemptions) so the infection numbers looked low.
The Health Agency spread advice that went against scientific

consensus or recommendations of the WHO. Remember that it was thought that C19 is MUCH deadlier than it turned out.
People with a sick family member should still go to work.
I have never seen any transparent, scientific explanation by the Health Authority.
At the same time

they were preparing the ice rinks in Göteborg & Stockholm as an extra storage place for the corpses.

Extra cooling containers were put in front of the hospital, later on a storage place in the Globe area(Stockholm) was turned as a morgue for the expected bodies.
Parents (even

with asthma were forced to send their children to school(otherwise social services) & many people were in shock & uproar, referred to the WHO, but not much came out of this.

Only people needing hospitalization(very acute sick) could usually get healthcare. There was a proposal

for a new hospital system, due to the IC units expected to run out.

That people couldn’t get the same healthcare standard anymore. And quick education in palliative care for primary doctors, for the people dying at home. the same patients under a roof..it was eerie & sickening.

In front of the hospital in Stockholm there were put police units (!) for the expected RIOTS if the intense care units would run out.

Meanwhile we read about people like a severely lung sick supermarket cashier who was not ALLOWED to wear a mask because of the “image for the

customers. I heard this even about care staff in elderly homes.

Elderly people got infected through asymptomatic, untested care staff. They mostly did not get to see a doctor then, if they were in a care home, direct palliative care. There was a shortage of masks & PPE, some

healthcare workers had to wear garbage bags.

The airplanes to my country ceased, more & more borders closed. Some people panicked, even wanted to quickly pack the necessary& flee over the border.

Already then many critics wanted to stay anonymous, for fear of repressions.

Like with other expats, my family was dead scared for me, they said cause if a state is capable of such things, what will they do with people who speak out.

Critics were often encountered with

aggression, people who referred to science were called “foil hats” or “hateful trolls”, especially if u spoke English, the hostility got worse.

What was incomprehensible to many expats: The majority of the Swedish people unconditionally supported the Health Agency & Tegnell.

Evidence, explanations were often not needed. No matter the contradictions. http://tegnellcitat.se 

We read horrible news about people dying without healthcare.
And elderly people still with life quality and all, simply getting palliative care without a doctor.

The Swedish healthcare was not the best before but this was just appalling. Many people in whole Sweden cried out. We are in the EU! We need help! Shock & disbelief. I saw how people called different EU institutions, embassies etc, all without success.
When I told my friends in

my home country they did not believe me.
Sweden is regarded as a progressive role model in German speaking countries.
They laughed & said “Sweden? the stress is apparently too much for u, go for a walk, do something for your mental health”
Then I kinda broke down emotionally.

The WEIRDEST thing: there was at first NOTHING about this in international media.

People in Austria, Germany..had no idea. It should be newsworthy if a EU country gives different advice than the whole rest.
Eerie silence.
Later slowly some short news popped up but they were

different from the ones we heard in Sweden. “Sweden about to change strategy”- what? And after many weeks some unknown journalists started to write - solely positive articles about Sweden. Because people were already fed up with the lockdown & didn’t want to wear “scratchy masks’

No big media house wrote anything about Sweden.
People demanded at government pages: why don’t you tell us about Sweden?! They believed they found out a smart revelation, that our governments are totalitarian & want to control the population with masks, but Sweden was a haven of

democracy & freedom. *cough* Anyways there were no critical news but right opposition politicians used Sweden to make the government look incompetent like “Look, their hysteric Corona panic, in Sweden everyone is free & happy” #Kickl

A local journalist claimed in Sweden the

pandemic would just end without a lockdown. No masks or measurements needed.

The Austrians had the picture of “The Swedes” as cheerful people with “own responsibility” who just love their “freedom” & found a rational “strategy” (herd immunity)- a great success, probably cause

expats spoke out at times, he wrote they were “attacking ”
Lots of clueless people in Germany & wanted to have same strategy.
It was thought that C19 is much deadlier.
I got deeply scared for my elderly relatives.
If the people are not informed, if only positive half truths

are told, then they too will get infected & die without healthcare, like in Sweden. My blood was boiling, I felt powerless, unheard & heartbroken.

The people in Austria didn’t believe me & laughed. I had no media article as proof so I translated Swedish articles into German.

The Germans & called me hysteric, dramatic & “totalitarian”, most still didn’t believe me. I felt like some lonely lunatic or conspiracy theorist, when I was just quoting articles. Almost nobody showed empathy for the dying elderly & avoidable suffering in Sweden.
I have the

disappointing impression some just looked away so they can go to the hairdresser.
Later occasionally slightly critical articles did pop up. In addition, @KeithMEWAS presumably brought at least a part of the truth out. After the recent

article by the Swedish state radio, in indirect connection with Hanna Linderstål & the future “Swedish Agency for Psychological defense”, big German influencers thought Mewas is a troll farm & spread paid “coordinated fake news” to harm the Sweden image.

They implied that ALL the negative news about Sweden was just fake news by a “foreign power” with the interest to harm Swedens image.
As a “proof” for some absurd claims he uses Emma Frans Tweet & the retweet from the Swedish Health Agency FHM.After Frans tweet there are suddenly

rumors that a small fb group, critical to the strategy, that just informed international media (based on facts & evidence) & analyzed Media about to debunk fake news, would have “harassed” or even “threatened” scientists. Without concrete evidence but the narrative is put

in peoples heads. seems a bit odd that a known, Swedish professor with big reach, suddenly says something like. “There were harassments? I don’t know the group but I GUESS Mewas has done it. “ or the

especially the Tweet of Emma Frans. She posts the article by the Swedish state radio about a report that was done with experts for Psy-Ops. She says she THINKS this explains why she & a certain ‘Amina’ (in the Mewas tweets noone even seems to know her)were forced

to limit their comment function. She adds that “groups like this are a threat to democracy”.
So even though there is no single proof for these statements, many people believe it as it was a given fact.
More remarkable in my opinion is the fact that a state founded media

got access to a private fb group, and has secretly watched private conversations without the consent of these ~140 members, for an unknown time period. A group that was confidential as many critics of the Corona strategy fear repression & hostility.

Even more remarkable & unusual was, that the official Swedish Health Agency FHM - which usually never does retweets -retweeted Emmas Tweet, containing assumptions & vague accusations without evidence.
When asked for an explanation, FHM answers “There were harassment & the

attempt of information influencing” (by the Facebook group that simply talked to international media about actual happenings) so they said it was in their responsibility to ‘inform’ people about this.
Many people found this to be highly unprofessional by an authority.

After this, the founder of Mewas who runs the Twitter account & came out to the public trying to correct the false accusations, received threats in the mail & will leave the country, as in Sweden there is barely any privacy (address & many other personal info are entirely public)

The members of the group were called “traitors” & the public is agitated - simply because they ran a private, Corona critical fb group, tried to debunk fake news & talked to international media about their matter.

didn’t threaten or harass anyone, the narrative of “threats by groups” is kept alive regularly, here - remarkably - by an opinion peace by a signatory of the GBD (the newspaper didn’t mention this) where professor Ludvigsson is one of the originators. received serious threats & reported it to the police. But on request, the police stated that no report was filed.
These were shared on Twitter. Unless someone manipulated the pictures (or put them out of context), the truth was not told.
