Growing an art twitter account

In my experience Twitter takes a bit of luck, but there are some things you can do to make it easier to get seen, even though this isn't an art platform.
This is what has worked for me so far -- thread 👇
you don't need a lot of hashtags. People rarely search them, only when there's a special event (like #portfolioday , #visiblewomen etc.)
And the algorithm may decide that too many hashtags in a post is spammy and suppress those posts, so I'd use them very sparingly.
Posts with links get suppressed too. I usually solve this by attaching the link post to the original in a 2nd tweet.

This has also the bonus of bumping your original post, people might see it when they missed it the 1st time.
- Artshares have helped me a lot in the beginning. It's worth participating!

- I try to make other interesting posts every once in a while, sometimes they get very popular, like advice for artists. I love to talk about the business side of art so that comes naturally to me.
You can repost old art! I've grown my Twitter audience only in the last ~2 years, so many of my followers haven't seen much of my work older than 2019, and I've got a lot of old art that is still in line with what I do.
You can repost popular tweets! When I have one that does well, I save the link, and post the same content again as a new tweet in 6-12 months. As my following grows, a repost might get even more popular the 2nd time.
Have a pinned tweet with samples of your work, and a header image of your work. I'm much more likely to follow an artist if I can immediately see that they're one! If your goal is to get clients, don't forget a portfolio link/email/some way they can see more work & contact you.
It helps if your work has a certain „wow“ factor/is relatable. Together w/a rare skill level, it is more likely to stand out.

My beginner works got less attention, because they just don't impress many ppl. Only now w/increasing quality of my work it gets more attention.
