The discussion about terms like “pregnant people” “people who menstruate” etc are solely about including trans men, nonbinary people and people from third gender cultures who can get pregnant. Yet somehow trans women are always blamed as the drivers of the change
This is transmisogyny; the idea that trans women are secretly powerful and influential and trying to separate the word woman from the biological functions associated with bearing children. Thing is the phrase “pregnant women” doesn’t bother me or any trans woman I know
We positively identify with the word “women” so why would we want to erase it? Also cis women are over 99% of women we interact with so how realistic is it that every day talk about most women’s biology would be deeply distressing? It’s a fiction
I don’t go into a meltdown or rage when asked to sign a maternity card going round the office. I promise xx
