Something I've realised over the past year - the pre-packaged sandwich is a cunning capitalist ruse to make us more efficient workers and consumers. In 2019 a lunchtime meeting was a minor inconvenience. Now, it requires meticulous diary management to give yourself food prep time
so, come the revolution, down with the lunchtime meal deal!

More seriously, lunch breaks at work fascinate me. I always took something of a break, even if that was 20 minutes inhaling a sandwich while reading the news. I learnt last week that the French have had to change...
...their law that made it illegal to eat at work. And I always love in Germany seeing the very large, very public, canteens in large employers that are always very busy at lunch.

Having a good meal at work even leads to the tea/dinner linguistic difference in the UK...
...if you were a worker in a factory (or their child at school) you got your main meal of the day (your dinner) at the factory. Your evening meal was literally "tea" with some bread and butter.

I really enjoy having a proper lunch now - making it, eating it with my husband...
...and then going for a 20 minute walk (something that started with the shorter winter days).

LUNCH IS A REVOLUTIONARY ACT.
