So hard to believe, but I just finished working tonight at 3:25 am. Filed #Nets- #Suns story just before 1:30 am. Then tried to pitch in on postgame transcription. Went through entire transcript one writer did to make sure it was accurate because original audio was tough to hear..
...Then recognized no one transcribed Jeff Green postgame interview. So did that & sent it to everyone because he's good quote & folks might find use for his words before #Nets face #Lakers on Thursday. Whole experience got me thinking, which always is dangerous...
...I have been on some great beats. #Jets & #Knicks spring to mind, not #Isles because I was the only one who traveled. Made some friends on #Rangers. But I never have been on a beat where people on competing outlets work as well together as #Nets writers this season...
...Obviously, the pandemic has put us all in bed together. We're working from home on road games, and even at the arena, we don't have direct access to players and coach. We're all on tight deadlines. So we need each other to help transcribe pre- and post-game interviews...
...Never mind all of that. I just love the people who cover #Nets. #BrianLewis of the Post & I have traveled together for several years, & I love his company on the road & miss traveling with him. Kristian Winfield of Daily News calls Lewis & myself the OGs, which I love...
...But Brian & I are blessed to be surrounded by so much young talent, including Winfield of the News, #AlexSchiffer of The Athletic & #MalikaAndrews of #ESPN. My wife loves job Malika does. Also #TomDowd of http://BrooklynNets.com  is a tremendous person (and fast typist)...
...So what is my point? It's that, at age of nearly 70, I am having lot of fun because I am surrounded on #Netsbeat by so many skilled professionals & simply great people. We help each other as best we can to do job. I'm 48 years into career, & I can say this is best beat ever.
...So I don't want to offend any of my other newspaper compatriots. #Jets beat 1982-88 was epic with Steve Serby, Paul Needell & Gerry Eskenazi; loved #Knicks 2001-06 with Frank Isola, Marc Berman, Howard Beck, Steve Adamek. Loved Rick Carpienello & Frank Brown on #Rangers...
...To tell truth, I never will have more fun than I did with #Jets crew from 1982-88 when I was young, but under current circumstances, I think folks on #Nets beat right now are absolute best -- people & pros. We all approach job in different ways & all give incredible coverage.
...Frankly, #Nets fans are lucky to have benefit of so many good journalists covering the 'second team" in New York. You will see as this season moves forward. And did I mention what a comeback last night? Oy vey...
