I’m still yelling about the situation in Texas, so if you’re in the southern states and have never experienced a winter storm here’s some good ole fashioned Midwestern tips #ope #TexasFreeze #WinterStorm #texas
1. Driving: Pull your windshield wipers up and leave them straight out so they don’t freeze. Make sure you clear all the snow from your tailpipe. ALWAYS BANG ON YOUR HOOD BEFORE STARTING YOUR CAR IN CASE THERE ARE ANIMALS HIDING
2. If the power is out: close your blinds. Put foil, plastic wrap, towels, blankets over your doors and windows. Stuff the same in the door cracks. Keep internal doors closed. Anything to help insulate.
3. LAYERS!!! If you don’t have winter clothes, leggings work as layers / scarves / etc. Make sure you keep your head and feet covered. If you start to sweat, CHANGE!
5. BRING YOUR ANIMALS INSIDE!!! Put sweatshirts and sweaters on any small animals that need it. Keep reptiles wrapped in blankets, keep sitting on blankets or towels to swap out.
Please keep adding more!
6. Oh yeah, if you *HAVE* to drive, keep at least a half tank of gas, and a bag of cat litter in the trunk in case you get stuck. Always steer INTO the skid if you slide! (Turn your steering wheel the same way your back wheels are sliding)
