Novel idea for inclusive, trauma-informed care #1:
Instead of assuming people need or want to know their weight, or assuming that "at some point they'll find out" why don't we always ask consent & take the focus off weight*?
Instead of assuming people need or want to know their weight, or assuming that "at some point they'll find out" why don't we always ask consent & take the focus off weight*?
*there may be times when tracking or recording weight is needed. And if someone consents to open weighing with ongoing communication & a sound rationale then that's collaborative care.
The point here: take the labour off the client, & put some effort into high consent, weight inclusive, trauma-informed healthcare, built on a foundation of "unless someone has explicitly said that it's ok to take, tell them their weight, then I will not take it, or tell them."
