I support everyone’s right to worship how they want, but we all know those (Muslims, Jews, Christians) preach hate, and they’re responsible for all the terrorism in this country. So common sense restrictions on religion are totally reasonable...
I’m all for freedom of speech, but some speech hurts people’s feelings and I consider it violence, so the state should regulate what you say in public. It’ll never be taken so far as what you say in your home. That would be crazy, amirite @CountDankulaTV?
I’m all for a free press, but if the regime in power says (Fox/CNN/MSNBC) is spreading disinformation then the government should keep people from being able to hear it. It only makes sense to protect our democracy, right?
I’m all for freedom of assembly, but if the government decides that the seasonal flu (not COVID) could potentially overload our medical system, then we should stay locked in our homes. Our kids weddings, graduations, sports, and church services aren’t THAT important.
I’m all for redress of grievances, but if the government says that what they do is totally legal (like Japanese internment camps, Tuskegee experiment) then we should just trust that it’s for the greater good.
I support the Second Amendment, buuuut some guns are just too dangerous for civilians to own. Those high powered rifles with their magazine clips and sniper scopes are weapons of war. Who needs a fully semiautomatic gun @gunpolicy?
I’m all about using my home how I want, but if the government says they need to put soldiers there for my protection who am I to argue? They know best after all.
I support your right to privacy, but if the government wants to search your property to protect the community they should be able to right? If you’re not doing anything illegal (or saying anything they said is illegal in your own home) then you’ve got nothing to hide, right?
Having reasonable cause to search your home is totally reasonable. If the government thinks that who you associate with or who you’re related to or where you worship is a good enough reason then that’s good enough reason. And if the soldiers are already there...
And those other amendments about speedy trials, right to a jury, confronting witnesses, and having legal counsel? Well if the government presents enough evidence to the public, do we really need to waste time with people who are obviously domestic terrorists?
This may be controversial, but if using “enhanced interrogation” techniques will protect my family then what’s the harm in a little water boarding? They already told us you’re a domestic terrorist...
No one gets falsely accused of anything these days, you conspiracy theorist.
No one gets falsely accused of anything these days, you conspiracy theorist.
And finally, if the federal government says they know better than your state or local leaders then we should just listen. That guy from California or Texas or North Dakota is in his position because he obviously knows better than your local leaders what’s good for you.
I say all that to say this: the Constitution and the BoR are totally, like, living documents. They should change with the times, and it’s just too hard to change it when we need it. Changing it based on emotion (like adding prohibition then having to repeal it) will never happen.
