I remember back in 2018, we were legion. Thousands of us up and down the country; yes, there were doors to be knocked on, but I never saw Repealers outnumbered by antis in the comments on mainstream news articles, either here or on Twitter, throughout the campaign.
But these days, with the trans community under heavy attack, while their already dire service provision worsens, it's always the same few cis people countering, and it sadly shows. If we're just counting the number of folks willing to make a noise about it, their side is winning.
If you can't bring yourself to care enough to shout about trans people's bodily autonomy for its own sake, you should at least let yourselves be warned.
These transphobes have ties running all the way to the same folks you fought so hard for your bodily autonomy, 3 years ago. In many cases, they're the same people, some openly, others covertly.
They won't stop when they've got the conversion therapy for the trans and all that jazz. They might pause on the way to your rights, to gobble up the LGB, but your hard-fought abortion rights will definitely be next on the menu after that.
Please consider this carefully, follow as many interesting, creative and clever trans people as you can. Find out how you can best help out in this fight.
