So let's have a little talk about DeanCas canon. And I don't even just mean that "homosexual declaration of love" from 15.18, let's talk about an entire storyline. (A thread)

#theirlovewasreal
We all know the basics: an angel falls from heaven in every way imaginable for one man, revalidated at the end of course by the confession, but there's a whole lot going on between A and Y (because we never got Z). So the thread is gonna be about B through X. #theirlovewasreal
There was the inevitable offscreen impact of Anna and Cas basically swapping positions; something that also haunted us with the banishing sigil repeat in 15.18, which was introduced by Anna and repeated by Cas when he fell, but, #theirlovewasreal
Let's look deeper; look at the connection that was broken ("love you" edited down to "need you"), a scene that has even be proven to be used in Destiel market testing since season 12, so no, you're not crazy there either. #theirlovewasreal (Source: https://fandomdebunker.tumblr.com/post/635361320823390208/the-rumor-that-supernatural-carried-out-market )
In that moment we saw Cas being driven by a supposed divine rule, a code for him to act on; the same code that Chuck in 15.17 points out Cas NEVER obeyed because of Dean, ever since he gripped him tight and raised him from perdition. #theirlovewasreal
Keep in mind in 15.17 they even point out that the "thing" Amara had with Dean wasn't something Chuck had written, because "ew." Amara who carried the blossom like Cas fought for in Purgatory, but she surrendered hers to Chuck. #theirlovewasreal
Amara, who tried to teach Dean that the true, complicated Mary was better because she was "real." Like Saileen's kiss was "real". What's "real"? We are. But Cas walked out that day--similar to the words during John and Mary's first breakup, #theirlovewasreal
"There's nothing more to talk about."
"There isn't anything else to say."
"Dad always said they had the perfect marriage,"
"It wasn't perfect until after she died."
"Your father, he bounced around a lot for, uh, work, and you bounced right along with him,"-- #theirlovewasreal

"March 23, 1972, you walked out of a movie theater – Slaughterhouse-Five. You loved it, and you bumped into a big Marine and you knocked him flat on his ass. d it, and you bumped into a big Marine and you knocked him flat on his ass.... (cont)" #theirlovewasreal
"-and he was cute and he knew the words to every Zeppelin song, so when he asked you for your number, you gave it to him, even though you knew your dad would be pissed."

"August 19, 1975, you were married... in Reno. Your idea."
As Chuck and Amara argued in reno a few episodes before, and Chuck later wallowed his rage out in a casino, by 15.09 once Dean begged Cas in prayer and they found the blossom, they bound over the mark #TheirLoveWasReal

That fell through seeing Dean's inability to let go with Cas; that rage also carried through TO Cas when Mary died, seeking someone to blame.
"We were a family, and I didn't want to lose that,"
Similar to Mary not warning John of the demon deal or The Life. #theirlovewasreal

Similar to Mary not warning John of the demon deal or The Life. #theirlovewasreal
That wasn't the first parallel either. When Cas essentially died from Jack's birth like a mother in labor, Dean took it out on Jack. "Dean, what the hell, you're acting like DAD." Sam acknowledged; Dean lightened on Jack when Cas returned-- "welcome home." #theirlovewasreal
Castiel returned to the sound track, "Never Too Late,"the same phrase Lisa welcomed Dean back, with the same scene, the same shot blocking, the same -- well, read Swan Song #theirlovewasreal
Season 14 was domestic--the life, the marriage, the existing endgame and what to lose in 14.18; "I didn't want to lose that." -> "Now you can barely even look at me." Dean didn't stop him, and apologized for it later; #TheirLoveWasReal
Auntie Rowena the marriage counselor of hell gave her advice; Castiel struggled through coming out lessons of gay men believing in a tolerant god or not being punished by god for your lust, and so forth. But at the end, the blossom-- saved in purgatory #theirlovewasreal
He was dead for a long time; Amara's lesson to live in the current was true--Dean, too stupefied to speak, emotionally stonewalled by himself, lost his chance and later chose--in a very different voice/family, to tell his brother he loved him (LIKE A BROTHER) #theirlovewasreal
But from Dean's purgatory prayer of forgiveness and pleading, Castiel answered every "I don't know why I get so angry."--because he thought he was driven by hate and anger and revenge like his father, who damaged their lives in grief of Mary. #theirlovewasreal
Dean was still shattered at the loss of Castiel, sleeping on the floor with his bottle for some time; but spoke he wouldn't let the sacrifice be in vain: Dean was applying for a job. To be a firefighter. To still save people, but not this life. #theirlovewasreal
Castiel let him know he was worth more. Castiel even wanted that family life, the same way Mary had, but knew he wouldn't have it. Not because Dean didn't share it with him--like John and Mary, and even Dean and Lisa who spoke the same, "I can't have it." #theirlovewasreal
She already had that life with Dean, she already had that relationship; Mary and John had it, Cas and Dean had it, even walked the same romance line --they already had each other. But they could never have that freeman's life of family. #theirlovewasreal
Castiel's journey was knowing that who he was, was enough. Was fine. Knowing he WAS loved. Perhaps he'd never have his perfect life. But being at peace. And much like Mary finding John in heaven, so too would Cas and Dean #theirlovewasreal
The real failure of delivery in the show was the failure to explain--beyond people studying the philosophy of the shadow integration etc -- how and why Cas made it to heaven and showing their reunion. So that's up to us. #theirlovewasreal
I'm happy to discuss that whole quantum fuckery another time, but for now, this is it, this is simple: they are full, complete, mutual and reciprocated even if strangely spaced by fate, but very real. And Castiel helped make Dean whole again too. #theirlovewasreal
I should add to this: the moment dean replied to chuck calling him "the ultimate killer" was the moment he positively internalized what cas taught him to grieve more healthily which was briefly mentioned in 20.(ammendment 1/2)
The unforgivable aspect was the blatant homophobia in not letting this culminate on screen in full at the finale like, say, john and mary. That's where #theysilencedyou comes in #theirlovewasreal
